Whether you are a fan of bourbon, stouts, sustainability, beautiful writing instruments, or all of the above, this is the pen for you!
Crosscut from barrel staves to show the interlocking rings of the grain. This wood has had 5 lives. First it was a tree, of course. Then it was used to make barrels for aging fine Kentucky bourbon. After that, the barrel was used to age a locally brewed bourbon-barrel stout. From there, I cut the barrel staves to make pens. And finally, the sawdust created in the pen-making process is composted and will nourish more trees.
